CZU systematically prevents the generation of plastic waste and tries to prevent the use of disposable plastics in its campus premises. In the Very Good Food restaurants on the CZU campus, returnable coffee cups and newly also returnable food boxes have been introduced. The transition to reusable packaging is a step towards being more environmentally friendly.
In the Very Good Food restaurants, you can pick up a backup reusable Thermo mug for drinks for 50 CZK and a lid for 30 CZK. The set is made of harmless polypropylene, abbreviated PP (without BPA - Bisphenol A). The crucible is double-walled, so there is no risk of burns to your hands even when transferring a very hot drink. At the same time, due to its thermoregulatory properties, it keeps the beverage hot for a long time.
The mug can also be used in vending machines marked with the label "Put it in your own." Before ordering, it is necessary to slide the cup under the nozzles deftly. After the correct detection, the machine will write "cup" on display, and you can continue ordering.
A novelty in restaurants Very Good food restaurants is a system of returnable food packaging. For a deposit of CZK 80, you can have your food packed in a so-called RE-box, for which you will receive a deposit back at any partner establishment.
The RE-box is made of a carefully selected polypropylene type, whose extreme durability allows you to use each RE-box up to 400 times and replace the same amount of disposable packaging. The airtight lid ensures a perfect seal so that you won't find any unpleasant surprises in the bag. As for the two-chamber RE-box, both its parts are fully divided, so you don't mix the attachment with the main course. Production is located directly in the Czech Republic, which allows you to minimize transportation and effectively reduce CO2 production. All materials used are 100 % recyclable and environmentally friendly.
Another way you can support waste prevention at CZU is to use Filtermac water filtration equipment and bottle water in your own bottles. More details about Filtermac and information about its location on the campus can be found here.
