During this year, as part of the project Support for Green Skills and Sustainability at CZU, we developed a proposal to update the CZU Sustainability Strategy 2030+ (hereinafter referred to as the Strategy), which reflects our responsibility not only towards current students and employees but also future generations and the environment in which we live.
In addition to persons employed at CZU, students also participated in preparing the update of the Strategy and contributed new ideas and observations to the preparation of the document. Consulting services were provided free of charge by expert consultants Mariia Frolová from @Deloitte Czech Republic and Lukáš Gábor from @ACTUM Digital (both are graduates of ČZU and, in addition to professional knowledge, they could also apply knowledge of the university environment). Thanks to their comments, we gained valuable know-how when creating the strategy.
The updated draft of the strategy outlined five key areas for which strategic goals and performance indicators were set (e.g., reducing total emissions and increasing the share of energy from renewable sources or improving the energy efficiency of buildings, but also supporting inclusion, well-being, or charitable involvement of students and employees at CZU).
The Council for Sustainable Development commented on the proposed update in September, and the CZU management is currently conducting a comment process on the proposal.
We believe that by updating the Sustainability Strategy with clearly and comprehensibly formulated goals, we will create a more sustainable and healthy environment.
The update of the Sustainability Strategy was implemented within the framework of the project Support of Green Skills and Sustainability at CZU (NPO_CZU_MSMT-2125/2024-4) financed from the call for submission of applications for project support within the framework "Support of Green Skills and Sustainability at Universities" component 7.4 of the National recovery plan for ??higher education institutions for 2023–2025.
