Universities are responsible for the quality of their activities both towards members of the academic community and towards society as a whole. They contribute to the dissemination of knowledge and values and, together with other actors, co-create a space for public discussion on socio-economic development, social needs and many other current topics.
The Czech University of Agriculture in Prague is one of the most environmentally friendly universities in the Czech Republic, bringing to society not only a new standard of sustainability but also progressive transparency of its activities. The principles and principles of sustainable development have long been enshrined in the CULS mission and vision, as well as being an integral part of all management, pedagogical, scientific research and other activities. The CULS is its approach, taking into account the sustainability of its activities, just as its acceptance of social responsibility is understood as taking responsibility for the impacts of its activities. Together with students and his partners, he is looking for ways to pass on the best of their experience and knowledge.
The conference "The Third Role of Higher Education Institutions and Their Responsibility to Society" will present various approaches, initiatives and strategies of higher education institutions aimed at maintaining a balance between economic, social and environmental interests given by the current needs of society. Research, development and innovation, which are fundamental pillars of higher education, should provide real solutions to regional and global problems. Higher education institutions should therefore offer concrete solutions to the current challenges to which society is exposed. The impact of direct social and professional activities of universities in exceptional situations will be discussed in a panel discussion with university representatives, experts and students.
The event aims to remind that social responsibility and sustainability should be a natural part of the functioning of universities and other institutions. The conference organizers believe that sharing best practices and values across institutions is a necessary starting point for the sustainable functioning of society.
Due to government regulations, the Third Role of Universities Conference and their responsibility to society in full-time form could not take place. We, therefore, decided on the online variant.
